The New York Yankees and Cleveland Guardians set out to advance to the ALCS on Tuesday when they play Game 1 of the ALDS.

Gerrit Cole takes the mound for New York against Cal Quantrill, but a few of the prop bets I like in this game may suggest that Quantrill has the advantage.

If you’re looking to bet on some playoff baseball, it’s always fun to dip your toes in more than just the game lines and take a look at some props as well. Here are three of my favorites for the action in Game 1 between the Yankees and Guardians.

Best Prop Bets for Guardians vs. Yankees

  • Gerrit Cole OVER 1.5 Earned Runs Allowed
  • Aaron Judge OVER 0.5 Walks
  • Guardians First Five Innings Moneyline

Gerrit Cole OVER 1.5 Earned Runs Allowed

Cole hasn’t been the shutdown starter in the playoffs that the Yankees hoped for, as he’s put up a 3.98 ERA in four starts for New York.

In three of those outings, he’s allowed two or more runs, and I think we’re getting some value on him here to do it again. Cole has struggled mightily with the long ball lately, allowing 12 in his last eight starts, including one in each game.

If that trend continues, he could very well give up two runs with just one swing of the bat on Tuesday night.

Aaron Judge OVER 0.5 Walks

The American League Home Run King has been a machine at getting on base, and the Guardians likely will be careful with Judge and dare the rest of the Yankees to beat them.

In the month of September, Judge worked 33 walks in 29 games. Quantrill has good control, walking just 47 batters this season in 186.1 innings, but one would think he may pitch to Judge a little differently, especially in a high-leverage spot.

Guardians First Five Innings Moneyline

If you haven’t gotten the memo yet, I don’t trust Cole to get things done for the Yankees in this matchup.

Now, he’s facing a red-hot pitcher in Quantrill, who has nine straight starts allowing three or fewer runs. Quantrill has a 2.32 ERA over that stretch and the Guardians have won eight of those starts.

I’m not sure if Cleveland holds on for the full game, but I’m willing to fade Cole in the first five innings and take the Guardians and Quantrill to lead early. Until Cole’s homer issues dissipate, he’s a huge risk to give up early runs, especially at Yankee Stadium.

Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.
