The San Diego Padres evened things up at home on Wednesday with an 8-5 win over the Philadelphia Phillies, and we’ve got ourselves a series in the NLCS. We’ve seen an 8-5 shootout and a 2-0 pitcher’s duel, so what kind of game will we get in Philly with Ranger Suarez and Joe Musgrove on the mound? If we can figure that out, then we can really hit on some prop bets for Game 3.

Best Props for NLCS Game 3

  • Brandon Drury Over 1.5 Total Bases (+145)
  • Padres vs. Phillies First 5 Under 3.5 (+112)
  • Ranger Suarez Under 3.5 Strikeouts (+100)

Brandon Drury Over 1.5 Total Bases (+145)

Drury was acquired at the deadline specifically for this game. He was the bat they brought in to try and even out their left/right splits and be able to punish left-handed pitchers. Now, that theory will be put to the test in a massive spot against Ranger Suarez, a crafty left-handed pitcher who pitched fairly well in 3.1 innings against Atlanta. During the regular season, Drury had an .834 OPS against lefties with San Diego, but for the whole season he has a .955 OPS in 147 at bats facing lefties.

Padres vs. Phillies First 5 Under 3.5 (+112)

Joe Musgrove has pitched excellently in the postseason with back-to-back fantastic starts. I love an aggressive power pitcher in October and Musgrove certainly fits that mold. I think it’s clear that there are questions about both bullpens after Game 2, but early on this game should stay low-scoring and close. Ranger Suarez is a bit of a concern, but San Diego’s lineup is very left-handed heavy.

Ranger Suarez Under 3.5 Strikeouts (+100)

Suarez had a very bizarre outing against Atlanta in the NLDS. He went 3.1 and only allowed one run, but walked five and strikeout five. He is not that type of pitcher at all. For the year, Suarez has a 26th percentile strikeout rate, a 25th percentile chase rate, and a 17th percentile whiff rate. Frankly, he does not miss bats and five Ks in 3.1 was an anomaly.
