3 Best Prop Bets for Rays vs. Red Sox in ALDS Game 3
By Thomas Snodgrass
The Boston Red Sox’ offense put on a show in ALDS Game 2, collecting 20 hits and 14 runs. They were down 5-2 at the end of the first inning and then their lineup came alive. The Red Sox chased young right-hander Shane Baz aftrer just 2 ⅓ innings pitched and Xander Bogaerts, Alex Verdugo, Kike Hernandez, J.D. Martinez, and Rafael Devers all hit home runs.
Tampa Bay had a decent offensive showing of its own, having Boston starting pitcher Chris Sale exit after just one inning. Jordan Luplow’s first inning grand slam gave the Rays an early lead, but the offense went quiet for the final eight innings.
Here are three prop bets to take for ALDS Game 3, odds courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.
Nathan Eovaldi OVER 5.5 Strikeouts (-105)
Eovaldi has been a great postseason pitcher in his career, posting a 1.63 ERA in his 27 ⅔ career innings pitched in the playoffs.
Eovaldi has also pitched well against Tampa Bay in 2021, allowing just a .167 (16-for-96) batting average against the rivals from the AL East. In his last appearance against the Rays on Sept. 8th, Eovaldi threw seven scoreless innings and allowed only three hits, two walks, and struck out eight batters.
Drew Rasmussen UNDER 3.5 Strikeouts (-150)
Rasmussen has not managed to go very deep into his starts, being used as a swingman between the rotation and the bullpen in the regular season. He has gone at least five innings in has last four starts in September, though.
In his final four September starts, Rasmussen posted a high of just three strikeouts in back-to-back starts against the Toronto Blue Jays on Sept. 14th and 21st.
This is not a big time punch out pitcher, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Kevin Cash pulled him relatively early.
Rafael Devers to Score a Run (+120)
The Red Sox lineup is stacked, and Devers hits in the middle of it. Chances are, this team will score a bevy of runs.
While some may take a player that bats near the top of the order to score a run, Devers has plenty of solid hitters hitting behind him that could drive him in, like Xander Bogaerts, J.D. Martinez, Hunter Renfroe, and Alex Verdugo.
Devers homered in Game 2, so he could always bat himself in as well in Game 3.
