3 Best Prop Bets for Suns vs Mavericks (Back Ayton, Fade Brunson in Game 3)
By Reed Wallach
The Western Conference semifinals shifts locations on Friday night when the Phoenix Suns travel to Dallas up 2-0 against the Mavericks.
You can check out our Game 3 preview here, but let's dive into the prop market and find some winners now that we have seen two epic performances from both the Suns as a whole and Luka Doncic. Are there adjustments in order? Here are 3 player props I'm eyeing for Game 3 on Friday night, with odds courtesy of WynnBET SPortsbook:
Best Prop Bets for Suns vs. Mavericks Game 3
- Deandre Ayton OVER 18.5 Points (-105)
- Dorian Finney-Smith OVER 18 Points+ Rebounds (+110)
- Jalen Brunson UNDER 17.5 Points (-105)
Deandre Ayton OVER 18.5 Points (-105)
This is an overreaction from Game 2. Ayton had a point total of 19.5 but only played 18 minutes due to foul trouble which led to 9 points on 6 shot attempts. Let's go back to Game 1 when he scored 25 points on 12/20 shooting in 33 minutes. Against a Dallas defense that has zero answers for the big man, I expect Ayton to have a bounce back effort and his point total to look more like Game 1.
Dorian Finney-Smith OVER 18 Points+ Rebounds (+110)
I'm following a similar trend with this prop. This line was closer to -130 in Game 2, but DFS hardly got off the bench in that one after he got into early foul trouble, but the goal for the Mavs is typically to deploy their best defensive player. He only played 20 minutes in Game 2, but in Game 1 he played 40 minutes and scored 15 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.
I'm going to count on a better whistle for Finney-Smith and him to take advantage of his extra minutes. If there was schematic fault as to why he was on the bench that's one thing, but like Ayton, he just was buried on the sidelines due to early fouls.
Jalen Brunson UNDER 17.5 Points (-105)
Styles make fights and this has been a very different series for the Mavericks after getting past the Jazz, who couldn't hold a candle to the likes of Brunson on the perimeter. Against the Suns, it's been tough sledding for Brunson, who hasn't been able to get clean looks nor get into the lane for his nifty floater.
Brunson combined for 22 points on 9-of-28 shooting in the two games in Phoenix and I don't see it getting much better for him at home. While he is going to continue to get minutes, he played at least 27 minutes in both games, the volume hasn't been there for Brunson as Doncic dribbles the air out of the ball.
This number can't fall fast enough and still has a little bit of residue from the first round series where he scored 24+ in all 6 games. I'm going to continue fading Brunson in Game 3 despite the location shift.
