The Padres fought back in Game 1, but the deficit was too great to make up as the team lost to the Dodgers 5-3.

Now we turn to Game 2 with former Dodger Yu Darvish taking the mound to take on Clayton Kershaw, how should we analyze this from a prop perspective?

Here are a trio of prop plays for Game 2 of the NLDS between the Padres and Dodgers:

Best Prop Bets for Padres vs. Dodgers

  • Yu Darvish OVER 5.5 Strikeouts (+110)
  • Clayton Kershaw OVER 5.5 Strikeouts (+108)
  • No Run First Inning (-142)

Yu Darvish OVER 5.5 Strikeouts (+110)

Darvish has gone over this mark in three of four starts against the Dodgers this season and the one time he didn't he landed on five.

Now, he gets them in a postseason setting after a game in which they struck out 10 times in Game 1. Darvish has a spotty postseason track record with an ERA of 4.50, but he strikes out his fair share of batters, posting a near 6 K/BB in eight starts.

I think at plus-money, we can expect Darvish to show up and do his part to even this series.

Clayton Kershaw OVER 5.5 Strikeouts (+108)

I think we get a pitcher's duel on Wednesday night between a pair of former teammates.

Kershaw has been on point since the start of September, posting a 1.65 ERA while also limiting his walk rate and punching out batters with ease. He has a strikeout per nine rate of nearly 11 in his last six starts, the best stretch of the season for him. At plus-money, I'll trust Kershaw to keep it rolling.

No Run First Inning (-142)

If you made it this far, you know where my head is at. I'm bullish on both pitchers showing up in Game 2 and think we get a clean start to the game.

The Dodgers plated two runs in the first inning in Game 1, but Darvish is the far superior pitcher to Mike Clevinger. Not to mention, the Dodgers scored a run in the first inning only once in four starts this season.

On the other side, Kershaw pitched clean first innings against the Friars both times this season. For what it's worth, the Dodgers scored both times in those games, but not against Darvish.
