The Philadelphia Phillies are a win away from advancing to the World Series, and their offense has been on a tear in this series.

Now, both the Phillies and San Diego Padres turn to their aces (Zack Wheeler and Yu Darvish) in Game 5 of the NLCS.

BetSided’s Iain MacMillan gave out his pick for who will win this game, but I’m focused on a few prop angles in this matchup.

Here are my three favorites for Game 5:

Padres vs. Phillies Best MLB Prop Bets

  • First Five Innings UNDER 3.5 Runs
  • Zack Wheeler OVER 16.5 Outs Recorded
  • Bryce Harper to Hit a Home Run

First Five Innings UNDER 3.5 Runs

Darvish and Wheeler were both terrific in Game 1, and with the rain and wind at Citizens Bank Park on Sunday, I think this is a solid spot to expect pitching to dominate early.

Wheeler allowed just one hit across seven innings of work in Game 1, and the Padres have struggled against him all year. He’s pitched 14 shutout innings against them in 2022.

Meanwhile, Darvish was great in Game 1 as well, allowing just two runs and three hits in seven innings. Two solo homers sealed his fate, but this bet would have hit rather easily the last time these two faced off.

Zack Wheeler OVER 16.5 Outs Recorded

For some reason, oddsmakers keep hanging these low outs recorded props on Wheeler, who has gotten 19, 18 and 21 outs through his first three postseason starts.

Rain could play a factor here if the game is paused in the middle of his outing, but I’m willing to take that risk when all we need is for Wheeler to get through 5.2 innings for this bet to hit.

The Phillies are going to trust their ace in this game, especially since their bullpen has been their weakness in the 2022 season.

Bryce Harper to Hit a Home Run

Has there been anyone hotter than Bryce Harper this postseason?

The Phillies star already took Yu Darvish yard in Game 1 of this series, and he’s been on an absolute tear the entire postseason.

This is likely going to be a low-scoring game, so the home run may be the only way for either team to really make a splash. Given Harper’s play this postseason and his success against Darvish, he’s worth a bet at this price to go deep in Game 5.
