3 Best Prop Bets for Pelicans vs. Rockets: Does Houston Have an Answer for Brandon Ingram?
By Matt De Saro
The Houston Rockets somehow have gone from a team that lost 15 straight games to one that is on a five-game winning streak. Tonight they have the pleasure of facing another one of the worst teams in the NBA in the New Orleans Pelicans (7-18).
While this game might not feature a pair of powerhouse teams, there are some individuals worth watching. Let’s take a look at some prop odds for this showdown, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.
3 Best Prop Bets for Pelicans vs. Rockets
- Brandon Ingram OVER 23.5 Points (-125)
- Brandon Ingram OVER 4.5 Assists (-125)
- Jonas Valanciunas OVER 12.5 Rebounds (-105)
Brandon Ingram OVER 23.5 Points (-125)
Brandon Ingram is playing some of the best basketball of his entire career right now. The Pelicans forward is averaging 21.9 PPG, 6.3 REB, and 4.7 AST. He has gone over this total in four of his last six games. The Rockets have no real answer for Ingram and I expect him to continue shooting the lights out.
Brandon Ingram OVER 4.5 Assists (-125)
If you can believe it, Ingram’s scoring numbers are a bit down from earlier in the year when he was flirting with 30 points a night. He has, however, been averaging more rebounds and assists during that period. He set a career-high on Friday night with 12 dimes against the Dallas Mavericks and, again, the Rockets have no real answer for Ingram. Ingram has gone over this total in three of his last five games and against stronger opponents than the Rockets.
Jonas Valanciunas OVER 12.5 Rebounds (-105)
While Valanuciunas is a fantastic rebounder, this bet is almost about how bad everyone else is around him at shooting. Both the Rockets (51.20%) and the Pelicans (49.10) are among the worst teams in the NBA in terms of effective field goal percentage.
The Pelicans are a great 3-point shooting team but rank 30th from the field. Houston kind of has the opposite problem, making 52 percent of their two-point attempts but just 33.4% from deep. All this is to say that there will be a lot of bricks thrown up tonight and Valanciunas will be the most talented rebounder on the floor.
