Baseball is almost back and BetSided has you fully covered ahead of Opening Day.

We already know the top names in the game, as Shohei Ohtani, Mike Trout and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. are at the top of the odds to win AL MVP. Yet, sometimes players come out of nowhere and have a season for the ages.

Here are three players that you should consider as your dark horse MVP pick.

All odds listed are via WynnBET.

Marcus Semien: +5000

Semien’s odds are a little far down the list, but he has a good chance of being at the top of the leaderboard at the end of the season. He has two top 3 MVP finishes in the last three years and is one of the most durable players in all of baseball. He’s played 162 games twice in the last three seasons, giving him a great chance to rack up the most stats.

If the Rangers can also get some wins along the way, Semien's case could be boosted that way.

Carlos Correa: +5000

Correa is coming off an All-Star season and a top 5 MVP finish. He’s on a new team and has a chance to take his game to the next level. Correa had a career-high in home runs last season and had the second-most hits. If he can improve on either one of those stats and avoid a dip in production like he normally does after big years, this could be a valuable season for him.

Salvador Perez: +7500

Perez is far down the list, but he has a chance to get the MVP because of his power. Perez, along with Vladimir Guerrero Jr., led the majors in home runs last season. He finished top 7 in MVP voting. He also led the majors in RBI with 121 in 2021. Perez has the strength to get the job done. Where he lacks is getting on base. His OPS was the lowest out of the top 7 candidates, showing a clear discrepancy.

If Perez can get to the white diamonds a little more, he could have some hardware at the end of the season.
