Between last week's Waste Management Phoenix Open and this week's Genesis Invitational, this might be the best back-to-back weekend of golf all season that doesn't include a major tournament.

All the top players in the world are heading to Riviera Country Club for this week's event. If you're looking for my tournament breakdown and top outright picks, check out my betting preview here.

In this article, I'm going to give you three dark horse bets who have a chance to win this week. All odds listed below are via WynnBET Sportsbook.

Long Shot Bets to Win the Genesis Invitational

Lanto Griffin (+10000)

FanSided's Cody Williams wrote about how Lanto Griffin could be a sneaky long shot bet in his own betting preview for the event, and I tend to agree with him. This is what he said.

"Lanto Griffin could be someone sneaky here at Riviera. His course history doesn’t stand out all that much with a T-37 and T-26 in his two trips. However, his recent for has been interesting as he’s gaining strokes in every facet of his game, most notably curing a short game that plagued him much of last season. At these odds with the way he’s trending and the fact that he’s won on the PGA Tour before, Griffin is worth a small sprinkle on the chance that he keeps putting it all together and finds himself among the big names atop the leaderboard."

Sahith Theegala (+11000)

Sahith Theegala introduced himself to the world at least week's Phoenix Open, and you already know how high I am on him this season. So why can't he put himself in contention again this week? He was one stroke back of a spot in the playoff last week, and the tournament featured almost as many of the top golfers in the world as this week will.

Theegala isn't going anywhere, and if his odds continue to be this long, he presents value from a betting standpoint.

Matt Jones (+17500)

As I pointed out in my betting preview, play around the greens as of utmost importance at Riviera Country Club. That lines up perfectly for Matt Jones, whose biggest strength is his short game. He 13th on Tour in strokes gained: around the green and 55th in strokes gained: putting.

He also has two top 20 finishes here in the last four years, including an 8th place finish in 2021. He's worth a sprinkle at +17500 if you're looking for a long shot bet this weekend.
