The second major of the year is here and begins on May 22. The oddsmakers have a lot of confidence in the favorites this year. On the men’s side, WynnBET has three players with odds under 10/1 to win, while there’s only two players on the women’s side in that category.

With that amount of faith in the top players, nearly everyone else is automatically a dark horse. Still, there are better plays than others. I’ll take you through the best three dark horse players to bet on for the next two weeks.

Dark Horses To Win 2022 French Open

Aryna Sabalenka (+2500)

Sabalenka hasn’t had the best luck at Roland Garros – never advancing to the Round of 16 – but she had a strong showing in majors to end 2021 and made the Round of 16 at the Australian Open. She’s a top 10 player in the world, doesn’t get broken often and converts on a majority of potential break points.

If Sabalenka can get a favorable draw, the quarterfinals is where her floor should be in this tournament.

Daniil Medvedev (+5000)

Medvedev’s playing status for this tournament has been all over the place this year. After Wimbledon banned him and other Russian and Belarusian players, there was a brief moment when he could’ve been ruled out from this tournament. Then, he underwent hernia surgery a few weeks ago. However, he’s committed to competing at Roland Garros.

Medvedev is one of the best players in the world. If he can be somewhat healthy or find his form, there is a path for Medvedev to have a fantastic tournament. The key for him is his health within the first few matches. Watch out for him, especially if he looks healthy and mobile after Day 1.

Coco Gauff (+5000)

Gauff made the quarterfinals last year and has a chance to do more than that this year. Her 2021 was the best year of her career, as she advanced to the Round of 16 at Wimbledon as well. Gauff has had a great year when it comes to service games. She’s winning 71.3% of those games. The key for her to make a deep run will be the return games. She’s only winning 34.6% of return games.

She’ll need to step that aspect of her game up, but Gauff has had a good year. A return to her most successful major run might do her some good.
