The WNBA season is only a month away, so let's start talking about some basketball. A'ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart are clear favorites to win the MVP this season, but there are always players that can sneak into the conversation.

Here are three players that are dark horses to win the WNBA MVP with odds from WynnBET.

Dark Horses To Win WNBA MVP

  • Kahleah Copper: +2000
  • Sabrina Ionescu: +2000
  • Liz Cambage: +2500

Kahleah Copper: +2000

Copper ended last season a champion and Finals MVP. She’s averaged at least 14 points in each of the last two seasons. The reason why I have her on this list is because she’s taken her playoff scoring up to at least 17 points in each of the last two seasons.

Copper has shown she can carry the offense and be an engine on one of the league’s best teams. If she can take her playoff runs and turn them into an every night occurrence, there’s a path for her to win the MVP.

Sabrina Ionescu: +2000

Ionescu is a phenom and will finally have an offseason that doesn’t involve acclimating to a new league or rehab. Last season, she shot poorly from the field and only averaged 11.7 points per game.

Yet, I’m expecting a lot of positive regression with her. She’s still one of the best players on the Liberty and will have every opportunity to be great. If the Liberty can make the playoffs again – and maybe have a higher seed with a better Ionescu season – this is more attainable than the stats say.

Liz Cambage: +2500

Cambage is in a new situation and will likely be able to play more freely. Cambage was in a twin towers situation with A’ja Wilson and wasn’t able to get the numbers she got in Dallas.

Her minutes have also gone down in each of the last two seasons. If Cambage is able to get the touches she used to get, this could be a dominant season for her. The Sparks missed the playoffs last season too. Cambage can resurrect this team and win the MVP in the process.
