Phil Mickelson shocked the world at last year's PGA Championship by becoming the oldest golfer in history to win a major. The PGA Championship is no stranger to age-defying results, as a number of golfers both young and old have emerged victorious.

Lefty won't get the chance to defend his title, but there's still plenty of aging competitors on Tour who could pull off an improbable victory this week.

Using the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook, let's take a look at three golfers over the age of 40 who can win the second major of 2022:

3 Golfers Over 40 Who Can Win PGA Championship

Adam Scott (+11500)

The 41-year-old has six top-10 finishes at the PGA Championship in his career, including taking third in 2018. He's made 12 of 13 cuts this season and ranks fifth in Strokes Gained: Putting over the last calendar year.

Scott is one of the few players on Tour with course familiarity, and his steady play will give him a chance if he stays hot with the putter.

Matt Kuchar (+30000)

Kuchar has five straight made cuts, taking top-20 in four of those tournaments. He's historically had success at the PGA Championship with three top-10's since 2015.

Despite the long odds, Kuchar profiles well at Southern Hills. We know from Iain MacMillan's preview that play around the greens will be crucial, as the course features a number of challenging approach shots that will leave players in unfavorable conditions.

Well, guess who ranks third on Tour this season in Strokes Gained: Around-The-Green? Kuchar, baby! He's ninth in Strokes Gained: Putting and 29th in Strokes Gained: Total, so he's more than capable of putting it altogether and earning his first major championship.

Ryan Palmer (+25000)

Palmer is coming off a great performance at the AT&T Byron Nelson, where he took T5 and posted a second-round 62. He's finished in the top 18 in five of his last 11 tournaments and ranks 30th on Tour in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green.

He has an early tee time on Thursday, so he has a chance to get off to a fast start before the wind picks up. Palmer is 19th in Strokes Gained: Off-The-Tee, so if he can take advantage of friendlier conditions, then he'll be in great shape.
