The U.S. Open never disappoints; even when some of the biggest and most familiar names may not be competing.

It's a little weird not seeing Roger Federer or Serena Williams in New York, but the new wave of tennis stars now get their chance to shine at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The two-week long grand slam event kicked off last night and already some of the favorites have begun their quest to the title.

While there's a lot of matches taking place over the next couple of weeks, here are three in particular to watch out for.

Coco Gauff vs. Sloane Stephens

Gauff almost had her tournament ended on Day 1. After losing her first set to Magda Linette, Gauff won 6-3, 6-4 to advance into the second round. Gauff has already gone further than she did last year when she lost in the first round. She is a -275 favorite at WynnBET against Sloane Stephens, a +215 underdog. It took Stephens three sets to advance as well, needing a tie-break in the final set to advance.

Gauff is now +2000 to walk away as the champion. Stephens won the U.S. Open in 2017, but hasn’t been back since. Her experience should give her a slight advantage, but Gauff is on her game right now. Although she’s still only 17, Gauff could be an interesting play to take home the title.

Naomi Osaka vs. Olga Danilović

Osaka is back to playing tennis consistently and she’ll face off against Danilovic in the second round. Osaka is a major favorite and she should make easy work of Danilovic, yet bigger upsets have happened. Danilovic is a +800 underdog on the moneyline to Osaka’s -1600 line at WynnBET

Danilovic has never been to the second round of the U.S. Open, as she’s never qualified before. Osaka is one of the biggest draws in the tennis world and so watching her play will be enjoyable. However, don’t expect this to be any type of classic match.

Bianca Andreescu vs Viktorija Golubic

Andreescu hasn’t had the hottest 2021. She’s been eliminated before the third round in each major this year, with first round exits in the last two. Andreescu is the No. 6 seed in the U.S. Open and still has a decent chance at the last one standing all despite poor play this year. She’s +3000 at WynnBET to win it all, but she isn’t a terrible dark horse candidate.

She is a -200 favorite on the moneyline against Golubic, who is a +160 underdog. While she isn’t an overwhelming favorite, I do think she can advance easily and get back on track to winning another U.S. Open title.
