3 NBA Futures to Buy Low on Before the Trade Deadline
The NBA Trade Deadline just under a month away and teams are going to be chomping at the bit to get deals done.
So far, this season has been defined by 10-day contracts and nightly changes to lineups. If teams can get a little more consistency to help make a push at the deadline, they will be lined up ready to happen.
There's still a lot of basketball left to be played, but here are some futures you should look at for the second half of the season.
All odds listed are via WynnBET:
3 Futures Bets to Make Before the NBA Trade Deadline
- Giannis Antetokounmpo to win NBA MVP (+750)
- Los Angeles Lakers to win Western Conference (+650)
- Milwaukee Bucks to win Eastern Conference (+300)
Giannis Antetokounmpo+750 For NBA MVP
Earlier today, I wrote about how Giannis Antetokounmpo should be talked about more in the MVP conversation, and this would be the perfect time to take a ticket out on his MVP case. He’s third in the standings and is playing some of his best basketball.
With neither Stephen Curry or Kevin Durant being so far ahead, there’s room for the Bucks to surge and Antetokounmpo to get his flowers.
Voters might be tired of giving the award to him, but he will have the most compelling case by the time the season is over with.
Los Angeles Lakers +650 To Win Western Conference
The Lakers are doing exactly what every LeBron James-led team does. They get to a point where the offseason talent isn’t working out and a trade is necessary. It’s clear the Lakers aren’t who we thought they were, and something needs to be done. The Lakers will surely be active around the deadline and they should get back on track once Anthony Davis comes back.
The last time LeBron was healthy and didn’t make the Finals was in 2009. I still have faith the Lakers can pull something off, so I’ll take a swing with the Lakeshow.
Milwaukee Bucks +300 To Win Eastern Conference
Obviously if I see Giannis Antetokounmpo having a real shot to win MVP, I’m going to back the Bucks and their success. Right now, the Brooklyn Nets are the favorite at +135 to win the East. I can’t get behind that.
The Nets' depth is depleted, Kevin Durant is playing too many minutes and Kyrie Irving is just going to pop in and out. While Irving makes the Nets dangerous, I don’t trust them enough to bet on them to win the conference. It would be nice to get a little more value, but +300 is still solid.
