The NBA trade deadline has passed, but players can still be bought out of their contracts and go into free agency. The top player in this year’s buyout is Goran Dragic. He was traded from Toronto to San Antonio, and then was bought out of his contract.

Dragic now has a slew of playoff contenders that would love a veteran guard on their team. With all his options, which teams truly need him? Let’s dive into his market.

Milwaukee Bucks (+600 to win NBA title)

The Bucks are reportedly the top contenders for Dragic’s services. After trading away Donte DiVincenzo and Pat Connaughton going down, the Bucks need backup guard play. The Bucks are currently sixth in the Eastern conference and could use some more offense outside of Giannis Antetokounmpo.

According to Cleaning the Glass, the Bucks are -1.9 without Holiday on the floor. Dragic could certainly be a big answer to their issues and give them some stability when he’s not out there.

Los Angeles Lakers (+5000 to win NBA title)

Obviously, the Russell Westbrook experiment hasn’t worked out the way the Lakers have wanted. On top of that, Kendrick Nunn still hasn’t made his Lakers debut. If the Lakers can get Dragic, it could open the floor for them more than it has been all year.

We’ve already seen Westbrook get benched this year. Dragic could have a starting spot in Los Angeles by the time the playoffs roll around. In terms of need, the Lakers need him more than anyone on this list.

Brooklyn Nets (+600 to win NBA title)

Since the Nets have gotten Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, they have been extremely active in the buyout market. Signing Dragic would only make the league and fans more mad about the alleged  “stacking the deck” they do.

On the basketball side, the Nets could use another starting guard when Irving isn’t allowed to play. With Joe Harris’ ankle still recovering, Brooklyn needs backcourt scoring and Dragic would certainly provide that.
