3 Prop Bets for Hornets vs. Hawks: Bet on Miles Bridges to Step Up With LaMelo Ball and Terry Rozier Out

The New Orleans Hornets have four players enter the NBA’s COVID-19 protocols. LaMelo Ball, Jalen McDaniels, Mason Plumlee, and Terr Rozier were all sent home along with the various staff. That leaves a lot of production to fill, especially in the cases of Rozier and Ball. So, while the bench will have a good night, I think the main beneficiaries will be the guys already seeing minutes and not guys deep off the bench.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at some player props odds for their game tonight against the Atlanta Hawks, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

3 Best Prop Bets for Pelicans vs. Rockets

  • Miles Bridges OVER 20.5 Points (-115)
  • P.J. Washington OVER 13.5 Points (-115)
  • Gordon Hayward OVER 4.5 Assists (-130)

Miles Bridges OVER 20.5 Points (-115)

Miles Bridges will have a lot of extra work to do tonight with the No. 1 and No. 3 scorers on the team out of the lineup. Bridges is the second-highest scorer on the team at 19.9 PPG but has a lot more in him when needed. Tonight will be one of those nights and I expect Bridges to step up.

Bridges is coming off a 22-point game against the Milwaukee Bucks and had 22 points last weekend against the Rockets. Bridges' best game of the year from a scoring perspective was a 35-point game against the Hawks in late November.

P.J. Washington OVER 13.5 Points (-115)

While P.J. Washington isn’t a starter right now, he will be relied upon heavily with the injuries to the frontcourt. Until Plumlee is back, Washington is the guy. Washington missed time early in the season and is still getting up to speed but appears to be finding his groove at the perfect time.

Washington is averaging 10.3 PPG this season but has only played more than 20 minutes in his last four games. In those games, Washington is averaging 13.5 PPG. Washington doesn’t get to the line much but he should see enough work in the paint to go over this total. Washington did not play when these two teams met in November.

Gordon Hayward OVER 4.5 Assists (-130)

Somebody will have to help feed Washington, Bridges, and the rest of this offense. That is where Hayward comes into this prop betting equation. LaMelo Ball currently leads the team in assists with 8.2 per game while Rozier is second at 3.6.

Hayward is third with 3.5 per game. While Hayward won’t directly benefit the same way due to him playing a different position, it will require the offense to function differently. This will leave Hayward with the ball in his hands a lot more. He’s a smart player and won't spend all his touches on shots.

I expect him to help a lot to distribute the ball with the injuries to the backcourt. Hayward had four assists in 35 minutes the last time these two met.
