3 Teams That Could Use Amari Cooper If He's Traded
The Dallas Cowboys and Amari Cooper seem to be at a crossroads. Cooper is coming off his worst season as a Cowboy and could be on the move soon. He is scheduled to make $20 million, but that doesn't become guaranteed until March 20th.
If the Cowboys decide to move on from Cooper, here are three teams that would heavily benefit from his presence.
Best Trade Partners for Amari Cooper
Chicago Bears
With Justin Fields as the starter now, Chicago needs to devote all of its resources to helping him be the best quarterback possible. Allen Robinson is a free agent, so someone like Cooper would be a great replacement or addition to the roster and certainly help Fields grow as a player.
The Bears’ offense was pitiful at times last season. However, with Cooper, Darnell Mooney, and Robinson returning with a new coaching staff in place, Chicago could have one of the best trios in the league.
The Bears need help everywhere, but getting Fields weapons should be the top priority.
Los Angeles Chargers
If there’s anything the Cincinnati Bengals proved this past year, it’s that teams should just get the best player available and make sure their quarterback has weapons to throw to. The Chargers should follow that philosophy. With the AFC West as competitive as it is, Justin Herbert needs as many weapons as possible to compete with the division and conference.
Mike Williams looked like he was going to have a breakout season and then tailed off heading into free agency. Keenan Allen is still a good option, but he isn’t the bonafide, No. 1 receiver he once was. Cooper would give that unit some veteran presence and another legitimate option.
Cleveland Browns
I don’t know how much the Browns trust Baker Mayfield, but if they intend to keep him around he needs help. He’s going to need the game to be as simple as possible in order to make the best reads. Cooper would make that happen. Mayfield already tried to ruin Odell Beckham Jr.’s career, so if he does the same with Cooper, the Browns will know what the problem is.
The Browns are built on their running game and play-action passes. This would be a great situation for Cooper to come in. He wouldn’t have to do too much and could make “the play” when needed.
Cleveland already has a good roster. Cooper would help put it over the top.
Honorable Mention: Philadelphia Eagles
While the Cowboys would never trade a player as good as Cooper to a division rival, the Eagles could always use another receiver.
