We are still a long way from the start of the College Football season, nevermind the College Football Playoff. However, it’s never a bad time to take a future on a team – as it gives you something to root for all season long.

There are obviously teams that we expect to be in the driver’s seat this year, and those teams are giving little to no value as a future play. Alabama and Georgia are the two teams atop the odds standings at +200. If you want to go in a different direction, here are three teams to bet early to win the National Championship.

Ohio State (+500)

The Buckeyes are a tier below Alabama and Georgia in the odds, but they shouldn’t be. They are just as talented as any team in the country and have one of the two best quarterbacks in the country as well. If Ohio State can dominate the Big 10 again – and avoid a loss to Michigan this year – it will be a Power 5 Champion. That will be enough credibility to put them in the playoff, where their offense can shine and take them to the promised land.

Clemson (+900)

The Tigers are set up for a big bounce back year. Even during a down year, the defense was good. Clemson needs D.J Uiangelelei to show up this season and be an elite quarterback. He had moments last year where it seemed like he would put things together, but it wasn’t sustainable for him.

If Dabo Swinney can figure out how to maximize his offense, the ACC is Clemson’s for the taking. Clemson has a championship level defense already. It just has to be put in a position to succeed.

USC (+2100)

While I still have some reservations about USC, there is no doubt the Trojans have a high ceiling this year. With Lincoln Riley stepping in, the offense is going to get better. I don’t have many questions about that. However, the Pac-12 isn’t going to be a cake walk. Nevertheless, USC now has an elite offensive mind with his quarterback of choice. If everything comes together for USC, a 20/1 price is great.
