49ers' Super Bowl Odds Would Plummet if They Trade Deebo Samuel

After turning into one of the best offensive weapons in the NFL, San Francisco 49ers' wide receiver Deebo Samuel has asked for a trade.

This has to come as a shock to the 49ers, who expected the versatile Samuel to be the focal point of their offense. He had 1,405 receiving yards on 77 catches with six receiving touchdowns last year, while adding 59 carries for 365 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground.

San Francisco is sure to get a bountiful haul for one of the best young players in the game, but the team's Super Bowl odds are going to suffer regardless.

49ers Super Bowl Odds

WynnBET Sportsbook currently has the 49ers listed at +1200 to win the Super Bowl. These are the fourth-best odds in the NFC and sixth-best overall, though they'll plummet if San Francisco is indeed forced to trade its star wide-out.

The 49ers are trying to keep pace with the defending Super Bowl champion Rams and are expected to start second-year quarterback Trey Lance in the 2022 campaign. Life is hard enough as a quarterback making your first starts in the NFL, but the margin of error will get a lot smaller without Samuel generating yards after the catch and scampering around defenses.

It remains to be seen what package the 49ers would get in return, but they'll be hard-pressed to receive a player as dynamic as Samuel. I'd expect their odds to fall to a similar range as divisional foe Arizona, who sits at +2500 to win the Super Bowl at WynnBET.
