A New Favorite for Gold in Olympic Golf With Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau Out
Two of the top golfers in the world have been forced to remove themselves from the Olympic games after receiving positive tests for COVID-19. Jon Rahm of Spain and Bryson DeChambeau of the USA will have to wait until 2024 to see their Olympic dreams come true.
Patrick Reed will replace DeChambeau as part of Team USA. The Spanish Olympic Committee originally said that they did not have time to send a replacement, but they announced late on Monday that they have decided to send Jorge Campillo as Rahm's replacement. He will be alongside Adri Arnaus in representing Spain in the event, which is set to begin in Japan on Thursday.
Rahm, who was the +500 favorite as of last week, has now been forced to withdraw from two golf tournaments since the beginning of June due to COVID-19. He also had to withdraw from the Memorial Tournament after holding a six-stroke lead heading into the final round.

Collin Morikawa New Betting Favorite to Win Gold Medal
With Jon Rahm out of the picture, Team USA has a clear path to winning the gold medal. Collin Morikawa takes over as the betting favorite at +700, and fellow Americans Xander Schauffele and Justin Thomas are right behind him at +900 and +1000 respectively.
Reed, who is serving as the replacement for DeChambeau, is coming in at +1750. He's tied with Cameron Smith of Australia for the eighth shortest odds to win the gold medal. Reed is still competing at the 3M Open as of writing this article, and is expected to fly to Japan immediately upon its conclusion.
The United States are now favored to win the gold medal in both the men's and women’s event. Nelly Korda is the +700 favorite to win the Olympic gold medal for the women’s tournament, which is set to tee-off the week after the men's.
