Alabama and Clemson's programs have been synonymous with the College Football Playoff since it's debut in 2014; matching up in the National Championship game three times in its seven year history.

So while it was no surprise to see the Crimson Tide as the top favorite to represent the No. 1 seed in the 2022 CFB Playoff at +110 odds at WynnBET Sportsbook (their odds to win the title are +300), Clemson does not come in as the second-favorite to earn the top seed, despite being the second-highest favorite to win the National Championship at +450.

Instead, that honor goes to the University of Oklahoma, second on WynnBET's big board at +325 to take home the top overall spot. The aforementioned Tigers out of the ACC are third at +600 odds, followed by Georgia to round out the top four at +700 odds.

The Sooners are tied with the Ohio State Buckeyes for third in College Football Championship futures at +700. Despite the Buckeyes owning the third-lowest odds to win a title, they're currently listed all the way at +1500 to grab the top overall seed in the playoff.

Oklahoma is expected to cruise to the College Football Playoff in 2022

Led by Heisman Trophy favorite Spencer Rattler (+575 odds at WynnBET), the Sooners have the easiest road amongst the contenders to an undefeated and an near-guaranteed spot in the college football playoff.

The Sooners open at Tulane as 24.5-point road favorites at WynnBET, followed by three straight home matchups against Western Carolina, Nebraska and West Virginia to begin Big 12 play. A potential tough road matchup follows at Kansas State, but then the Sooners get the Red River Rivalry game on October 9th against a Texas team with Steve Sarkisian in his first year on the job. After that, the Sooners can cruise all the way until November 20th vs. a talented Iowa State team, but that matchup takes place in Norman on Senior Day, and then the season wraps up with the Bedlam Series in Stillwater, OK against Oklahoma State.

Is there value betting Oklahoma as the No. 1 Seed in the CFB Playoff?

My only hesitation with the odds is less about the expected value, since +325 is a fair price at WynnBET for a team with the easiest path. I worry that the College Football Playoff committee will punish the Sooners.

With that being said, Clemson and Georgia could cannibalize each other's chances at the beginning of the season when they match up on September 4th in the Duke's Mayo Classic in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Tigers are currently 3.5 point favorites against the Bulldogs, with the total hovering right at 50.
