Aaron Judge Leaps Shohei Ohtani in AL MVP Odds
By Reed Wallach
All rise, for the new American League MVP favorite.
Following another weekend of home runs, including off of the other top favorite in Shohei Ohtani, Aaron Judge has surpassed the reigning AL MVP atop the odds board. As of Monday morning, Judge is now +200 to win the award for the first time.
Here are the updated odds from WynnBET Sportsbook:
2022 AL MVP Odds
- Aaron Judge: +20
- Shohei Ohtani: +240
- Mike Trout: +400
- Jose Ramirez: +1000
- Vladimir Guerrero Jr: +1200
- Rafael Devers: +1500
Judge Now AL MVP Betting Favorite over Ohtani
Judge is hitting .300 with six home runs and 11 runs batted in over the last two weeks, propelling the Yankees to the best record in baseball.
On the season, Judge is hitting .313 with an MLB high 21 home runs and 42 RBI's. It was a big weekned for the Yankees outfielder, who went yard off of the regining MVP Ohtani, and also robbed him of a home run.
With the Angels on an 11-game losing streak, and the pitcher/hitter Ohtani's ERA creeping towards 4.00, it makes sense for Judge to surpass him on the odds board.
Ramirez, Devers Hot Hitting Have Them in MVP Talks
A pair of third basemen are making a push towards the MVP conversation at the dish.
Jose Ramirez may have the most complete profile of any candidate in the American League this season, hitting .293 with 14 home runs and an MLB high 53 runs batted in. He has an OPS of 1.024 and is tied with Judge in offensive WAR at 3.1.
However, the player with the highest WAR is Rafael Devers of the Red Sox, who is hitting .341 for the surging Red Sox. Devers has a WAR of 2.9 (Ramirez and Judge have negative defensive WAR) and has the most hits in baseball, 77. He has more than capable counting stats as well, 12 home runs and 31 RBI's.
