Aaron Rodgers MVP Odds: Packers QB Primed for Another Monster Season

Aaron Rodgers had one of the most impressive seasons of his career in 2020. He endured a turbulent offseason, as the Green Bay Packers selected quarterback Jordan Love in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. That obviously led to speculation about Rodgers' future in Green Bay.

Despite all of that, Rodgers threw for 4,299 yards with 48 touchdowns to 5 interceptions while completing 70.7% of his passes and leading the Packers to a 13-3 record. He was rewarded for his efforts with the third MVP award of his career.

Looking ahead to 2021, things don't appear to be changing. Rodgers' season will once again be dominated by endless speculation about his future with the Packers. It also looks like he could once again silence those doubters by winning another MVP.

The biggest obstacle to Rodgers winning the award has little to do with Rodgers himself. It's just that no player has won back-to-back MVPs since Peyton Manning pulled it off in 2008-09.

But he's now entering his third year in Matt LaFleur's system. We just saw the leap he made from year one to year two, so it's absolutely possible he makes another one in year three.

Plus, Rodgers did all that despite Green Bay bringing in virtually no help at the skill-position group last offseason. That's unlikely to happen again. At the very least, Devin Funchess, who opted out in 2020, will be back. And conventional wisdom suggests the Packers will be adding at least one more playmaker in the 2021 NFL Draft.

The 37-year-old QB may be in Jeopardy of losing his hold on the Packers' job in the future, but that's not happening this season. And as long as he's at the helm, Rodgers should remain as dominant as ever.
