Don’t Trust in the Duke Blue Devils

As I wrote about in my power rankings, I don’t believe in Duke this year. It’s Coach K’s final season as head coach, and you can be sure that the egomaniac is going to make it about himself as he does a farewell tour at every school they play. I hope teams give him a bottle of hair dye as a goodbye gift.

Yes, Duke has a talented roster and yes, the had one of the top recruiting classes in the nation, but those have also been true the last two seasons and the Blue Devils found little to no success. I won’t believe in the Blue Devils until Mike Krzyzewski is away from the program. The game has passed him by and he can no longer keep up as a head coach.

Virginia Tech is an ACC Dark Horse

If you want a value bet this year, look no further than Virginia Tech at +800. The team is set to get three starters from last year returning for the 2021-22 season, and Mike Young is coming off a season where he was awarded ACC Coach of the Year.

The Hokies will be conference contenders all year, and I’d rank them above the likes of Louisville and Virginia.

ACC Champion Prediction: Florida State +450

Yes, Florida State lost four of its five top scorers from last season, but the squad is still going to be a strong unit that boasts the size and versatility to beat teams a lot of different ways. Caleb Mills, who transferred to the program from Houston, will prove to be an invaluable asset for the Seminoles.

Florida State is the most complete team from top to bottom in the conference, and it will prove it by winning its first conference championship since 2012.
