Adam Schefter Provides Disheartening Derrick Henry Injury Update
When Adam Schefter dropped the bomb that Derrick Henry was facing potentially season-ending foot surgery last week, hopes were dashed across fantasy football seasons and hopes of a Titans Super Bowl win alike. Then Schefter mentioned the potential of Henry returning at some point in the season or playoffs, if the Titans made it, and optimism was somewhat restored among those pulling for a Titans title run, with their odds to win the Super Bowl currently sitting at +2000 on WynnBET.
Today the heart twisting continued and it's back to bad news.
According to Schefter, while the Titans are still holding out hope Henry would be able to return to the field at some this season, a source of his said it, "would be very surprising if he made it back this season."
Schefter then followed up that tweet with the following.
Ignoring the peewee football video of that kid stiff arming an entire team, Schefter says here "With Derrick Henry out for the season," which indicates to me Schefter believes he's officially on the shelf until 2022. Perhaps that's reading too much into a tweet Schefter was sending as much for the video as anything else. However, coupled with his previous tweet, it seems Schefter thinks he's done for the year.
Most signs pointed to Henry not playing this year as the ultimate outcome anyway, but it's nevertheless disappointing when you see it written out. The Titans signed Adrian Peterson to help fill the void along with Jeremy McNichols, but no one can replace Henry. He's one of a kind.
