The AFC East was headlined by the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins in 2020. But the division is shaping up to be a battleground in 2021 with the New York Jets and New England Patriots making splashy offseason moves.

The Bills unsurprisingly lead the pack as the favorite to win the AFC East with -140 odds on WynnBET. New England and Miami are then both tied at +340 to take home the division title in 2021. The Jets (+1000) round out this loaded group.

Buffalo prioritized upgrading their offense even more this offseason after a prolific 2020 campaign. Wideout Emmanuel Sanders and tight end Jacob Hollister are set to join receiving threats Stefon Diggs, Cole Beasley and Dawson Knox. Speedy running back Matt Breida also enters an intriguing backfield mix with Zack Moss and Devin Singletary competing for lead reps.

Miami narrowly missed the playoffs in 2020 at 10-6. One bright spot was a defense that ranked No. 11 in Football Outsiders' defensive DVOA metric, up from dead-last in 2019. The Dolphins addressed their biggest need at wide receiver this offseason by signing deep threat Will Fuller in free agency, and can add another top option with the No. 6 pick in the draft.

The Patriots suffered a down year in 2020 with injuries and players opting out of the season. They've made huge waves in free agency to try and get back to the postseason. Top free agent tight ends Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry are both in New England now. They also signed wide reciever Nelson Agholor. Then the Pats brought back players who were crucial to their 2018 Super Bowl win in David Andrews, Trent Brown and Kyle Van Noy. Quarterback remains their biggest question as Cam Newton returns on a one-year deal.

The Jets finally hit the reset button. New head coach Robert Saleh is the perfect man to build a contender from the ground up. The team is positioned to select Zach Wilson as their new franchise QB with the No. 2 pick in the draft. They're already setting Wilson up to succeed by signing receivers Corey Davis and Keelan Cole to go along with Jamison Crowder and Denzel Mims. The team's additions on defense, like Carl Lawson and Sheldon Rankins, will give Saleh the talent he needs to create a formidable unit as well.
