AFC North Odds Show Value on Pittsburgh Steelers
By Reed Wallach
The Pittsburgh Steelers were seen as a likely regression candidate in 2021, pegged as a third place team in the AFC North behind the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns.
However, the standings look upside down to the preseason projections, with the Steelers and Bengals each winning in Week 1 while the highly touted Ravens and Browns started 0-1.
Despite an early win on the road against Buffalo, one of the toughest games on their schedule, the Steelers are still not getting any respect in the Futures market.
Pittsburgh is still seen as a distant third to the two 0-1 teams. Take a look at the updated odds, courtesy of WynnBET:
AFC NORTH ODDS
Cleveland Browns: +125
Baltimore Ravens: +160
Pittsburgh Steelers: +320
Cincinnati Bengals: +3000
Keep in mind, the Steelers host the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday afternoon. Even though the Raiders pulled out the overtime victory on Monday Night Football, the team will be traveling across the country on a short week.
In addition, this Raiders offense is in for some trouble against a Steelers defense that limited the explosive Josh Allen to 270 yards on 51 pass attempts last Sunday.
Couple that with the Ravens opponent, the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football, and Baltimore may fall two games off the pace of their division rival through as many games.
While Cincinnati grabbed a nice win at home against the Vikings, oddsmakers aren’t buying them as a serious division contender, especially considering the Browns are in a great spot as 12.5 point favorites to get to 1-1 against the Texans.
Looking at the board, the best move this week is to open up a position on the Steelers at +320 odds with the team’s favorable schedule over the next few weeks: at home against the Raiders and then they host the Bengals in Week 3. These odds are likely going to be gone after Sunday.
