There is a new favorite to win the AFC South in 2021.

The Tennessee Titans have jumped the Indianapolis Colts at WynnBET in the odds to win the AFC South, going from +100 to -140 following the news that Carson Wentz will be out 5-12 weeks for the Colts after undergoing foot surgery.

Wentz, who was acquired in a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this offseason, had been expected to have a bounce-back year under Frank Reich, but the Colts are now on the outside looking in at the division.

Indianapolis fell from a -110 favorite to a +155 underdog. While the rest of the AFC South, the Jacksonville Jaguars (+600) and the Houston Texans (+2500), isn’t expected to be a threat to Indianapolis, there are some major questions for the Colts moving forward.

Wentz’s timetable could have him back early in the season, but if he misses the full 12 weeks, he’s going to miss the first two months of the NFL season.

BetSided’s Ben Heisler floated the idea of the Colts trading for Nick Foles, who backed up Wentz in Philly and actually won a Super Bowl for the Eagles when Wentz was injured back in 2017.

While it may kill some of Wentz’s trust in the organization, Foles has a history with Reich and is a proven veteran that seems to be on the roster bubble in Chicago. If the Colts truly want to make the playoffs, they may need to improve upon Brett Hundley and Jacob Eason in the quarterback room.

Bettors who were able to grab the Titans at +100 are sitting pretty right now, as the AFC South may be a one-team race unless Wentz can recover quickly and play the majority of the season.
