With the addition of A.J. Brown, the Philadelphia Eagles have one of the best wide receiving duos in the NFC. Brown will play opposite of DeVonta Smith, who was the No. 10 overall pick in last year’s draft.

Although Brown is already an established receiver in this league, the odds say the No. 1 receiver spot is up for grabs. WynnBET currently has Smith’s and Brown’s odds to win MVP at the same price. They are both +15000 to win the award, setting the stage for training camp to be an interesting one.

With their odds the same, which one is the better bet for MVP?

My bet would be on A.J. Brown. Although he’s coming to a new team, Brown has been a Pro-Bowler before and is bigger and stronger than Smith. Brown missed four games last season due to injury, and still put up close to 1,000 yards on the season. It was his first season under 1,000 yards receiving in his career, but that is set to come back up with health.

As for Smith, he played four more games than Brown last year and finished with just 47 more yards and the same amount of touchdowns. There is still a lot of room for improvement with Smith. To ask him to go from a solid No. 2 option rookie pass catcher to the MVP of the league – or even of the team – is a big ask.

The Eagles’ offense will have a lot of weapons and will be dependent on if Jalen Hurts can take the next step. His job will be much easier however, with two talented, complementary receivers at his disposal.
