It’s time to give Kyle Gibson the respect he deserves.

Entering tonight’s game against the Tigers, the Rangers right-hander has a 6-1 record with a 2.29 ERA. Carlos Rodon, with his 2.14 ERA, is the only AL pitcher who’s been better in that statistic.

Despite being arguably the second best pitcher in the league and a top five pitcher in Major League Baseball, WynnBET has his odds set at +1500 to win the AL Cy Young Award. Gerrit Cole (-135), Carlos Rodon (+260), and Lance Lynn (+450) all have shorter odds than Gibson and it’s not even close.

Sure, Gibson probably doesn’t deserve to be the betting favorite ahead of Rodon as of right now, but is he really deserving of being +1500? I certainly don’t think so.

He’s set to start for the Rangers tonight and he’ll have a chance to right a recent wrong. The 33-year old had his worst start of the season in his last outing on July 7th, giving up eight hits and five earned runs in 6.1 innings to these same Detroit Tigers. It was only the second time all season that he’s given up five earned runs in a game.

WynnBET has the Rangers and Tigers set as a pick’em tonight, with -110 odds on each side. The total for the game is set at 8.5 runs. Given that Gibson will be facing Casey Mize, who has a 5-5 record with a 3.59 ERA, you have to think the Rangers are a great bet at that price.

If you’re looking for a player prop to bet on, look no further than Gibson’s strikeout total which is set at 4.5. The over on that prop bet could very well be the best bet on the MLB board tonight as long as you’re okay with laying the -160 juice.

Gibson recorded at least seven strikeouts in three straight games heading into tonight’s start, and has only failed to surpass 4.5 Ks twice dating back to May. He’s also averaging 7.8 strikeouts per nine innings pitched.

Tonight Gibson is facing the worst team in the Majors in terms of strikeout percentage. 27% of the Tigers plate appearances result in a strikeout, and no team is worse.

It’s time to give Kyle Gibson some much deserved respect, and you can start by betting on the over 4.5 strikeout prop for his start tonight against the lowly Tigers.
