ALDS Prop Bets for Mariners vs. Astros Game 1 (Bregman is Back and Loves the ALDS)
By Josh Yourish
The Seattle Mariners are riding high after a historic comeback on Saturday in Toronto and now their reward for making the ALDS for the first time since 2001, the 106 wins Houston Astros and a well rested Justin Verlander. It’s the young Mariners finally breaking through and the hated Astros back again. This might be the most intriguing series of the four in the DS and that means we should load up to raise the stakes even more (responsibility of course). Here are my three favorite props to kick it up a notch.
Best Prop Bets For Mariners vs. Astros
- Logan Gilbert Under 3.5 Strikeouts (-130)
- Eugenio Suarez Over 1.5 Total Bases (+220)
- Alex Bregman Over 0.5 Home Run (+520)
Logan Gilbert Under 3.5 Strikeouts (+-130)
Gilbert has been really solid down the stretch for Seattle, but the Astros struck out the second least of any team in baseball this year and Gilbert has a 12th percentile chase rate, a 37th percentile whiff rate and a league average strikeout percentage. He just isn’t a dominant strikeout pitcher that you often see do well in the postseason and Houston should match up well.
Eugenio Suarez Over 1.5 Total Bases (+220)
Suarez swung a hot bat up in Toronto and I fully expect that to carry over for him. In those two games, he had four hits and two of those were doubles. He didn’t have a home run in the Wild Card round, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets one tonight.
Alex Bregman Over 0.5 Home Runs (+520)
Everybody hates the Astros in the postseason and besides Jose Altuve, Bregman is the main subject of that hate. The reason isn’t just the cheating, it’s the success that came with it. For his postseason career, Bregman has 12 home runs and a .739 OPS, but in the ALDS, he has played 20 games, have six homers and a 1.135 OPS. This has been Bregman’s round to dominate and I don’t see any reason for that to change.
