Andrew Wiggins Still Remains Undervalued for Western Conference Finals MVP

It's taken eight full seasons, but at age 26, we're starting to see why Andrew Wiggins went No. 1 overall back in 2014.

The Golden State Warriors' small forward has put on a clinic on both sides of the ball through the first three games of the 2022 Western Conference Finals against the Dallas Mavericks.

In Game 1, he held the Mavericks best player, Luka Doncic, to just 20 points on 6 of 18 shooting, while also leading the Warriors in plus/minus at +28. Then in Game 3, Wiggins dropped 27 points and 11 rebounds, while also establishing the defining moment of the series with a legendary dunk.

Through three games, he leads Golden State in plus/minus, while holding his primary on-ball opponent to the worst on his team. Simply put, the Warriors are not up 3-0 without Wiggins playing to this level.

Is Andrew Wiggins Worth a Bet for Western Conference Finals MVP?

Right now, the consensus line for Western Conference Finals MVP in the Western Conference Finals appears to be Stephen Curry's to lose at -1000. He's scored 30-plus points in the last two games, with double-doubles in Games 1 and 3.

But Wiggins is still available at odds of +1200, or 12/1, and given the way the narrative has shifted towards him in the postseason, it's not out of the realm of possibility that he could upset Curry with another brilliant performance in Game 4 or beyond.

So far through the first three games, Wiggins leads Curry in minutes, offensive and defensive rating, net rating, and turnover ratio.

While still a longshot bet, Wiggins' odds are likely to move the more he becomes a topic of conversation leading up to Game 4. One off-night from Curry could be the difference as Wiggins' confidence and performance continue to grow.
