Angels vs. Astros Prediction and Odds for Wednesday, April 20 (Fade Ohtani as a Road Favorite?)
By Reed Wallach
Arguably the most electrifying talent in baseball takes the mound on Wednesday when Shohei Ohtani starts for the Los Angels.
Ohtani will be handling pitching duties on Wednesday as the Angels face the Astros on the road. Both teams plan to be contending for an American League Pennant this season and a pair of AL West foes will try to get a leg up on the other in this one. Let's break down the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook and find the most valuable bet:
Angels vs. Astros Odds, Run Line, Total
Run Line:
- Angels: -1.5 (+125)
- Astros: +1.5 (-155)
Moneyline:
- Angels: -135
- Astros: +125
Total: 8.5 (Over -110/Under -110)
Angels vs. Astros Prediction and Pick
Ohtani pitched against the Astros already this season, pitching 4.2 innings and striking out 9 batters in a 3-1 Angels loss. LA closed a small underdog in that game, and now shift to a road favorite with the team set to face Jake Odorizzi.
I think we may see a similar fate for the Halos in this one. Even if Ohtani can shut down the Astros bats early, the team's leaky bullpen is going to cost them. While Houston has struggled on offense to start the year, posting the 23rd highest batting average in all of baseball, the Angels pen is even worse, generating the fourth highest ERA as a unit.
Ohtani has struggled to go deep into games with a high walk rate, north of 3 batters per 9 innings, which can lead to a limited outing and lead to more work for the vulnerable bullpen. Houston's offense has been mediocre to start the year, but I still trust them to hang around and knock off the Angels as home underdogs.
LEAN: Astros +125
