The Angels' struggles have been well documented, but they have managed to win two of their last four games heading into this matchup with the Dodgers. Meanwhile, the World Series favorites have lost six of eight.

Looking to snap out of it, the Dodgers turn to Tony Gonsolin who is 7-0 with a 1.58 ERA, while the Angels will trot out Noah Syndergaard (4-4), making his tenth start of the year with a 3.69 ERA.

Angels vs. Dodgers Prediction and Pick

Mike Trout and Anthony Rendon both made their return to the Angels lineup over the weekend as the Halos were able to take one of three from the Mets. They have been tasked with facing the two best teams in the NL in consecutive series with the Dodgers on deck. Tough sledding.

Noah Syndergaard is not the same pitcher as in New York. He was once the god of thunder and now he is simply an Angel. His fastball velocity is way down from a 98.7 MPH average at his peak to just 94 MPH now. Most notably this has affected his strikeouts which are now well below league average at just 5.6 per nine, but he has found success by pitching to contact with his sinker and only allowing four home runs in 46.1 innings.

Syndergaard is no longer one of the best power pitchers in the league, but luckily for him Joe Maddon’s mohawk never saw the light of day, so at least he still has the best hair in the clubhouse.

Tony Gonsolin has not allowed more than two runs in a start so far this year and I don’t expect that to change tonight. The Dodgers are hitting just .227 in their last 10 games which makes the under enticing.

Pick: Under 8.5 (-105)
