It continues to boggle my mind how a team with the firepower that the Angels have can be so bad in their execution. I feel like I say this a lot, but how does a team with two MVP frontrunners and a decent supporting cast not even have a winning record? I just don’t get it.

The Halos continue to get beat up on the regular. At least with the Orioles, we know what we are getting. They are not good but nobody expected them to be. It’s far less depressing. In any event, the two are back at it today in Game 2 of this series between struggling franchises.

Angels vs. Orioles Prediction and Pick

I will say this for the Orioles. There are some sparks on this team that could turn this whole system around in the next few years. One such name that comes to mind is Tyler Wells (7-4). Wells has been great for the O’s on the mound this season with a 3.09 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in 75 ⅔ innings. What's more, Wells has been dominant at home with a 2.20 ERA in six starts at Camden Yards. The best part is that the Orioles consistently win when he’s on the mound with a flawless 7-0 record in his last seven starts.

The same cannot be said for the Angels starter today, Michael Lorenzen, The righty has a rough 4.94 ERA and 1.35 WHIP on the year and things have been going downhill for weeks. The latest grand failure was last Friday when Lorenzed coughed up seven earned runs off eight hits in just three innings of work against the Astros. He’s giving up way too many walks and allowed four home runs in his last three starts. Lorenzen is also in danger of missing this start due to an unspecified “physical issue”. So either we get a spot start or a struggling pitcher who is not at 100%. I’m Not liking the Angels’ chances either way.

Pick: Orioles -110 ML
