AL West rivals are set to do battle this evening when the Los Angeles Angels take on the Texas Rangers in Arlington in game three of a four-game series. These two teams split the first pair of games. Both of those games went well over the total with a combined 30 runs scored. Texas is now the second highest-scoring team in the league at 6.29 runs per game while the Angels rank 14th at 4.25.

Unfortunately, the Rangers have the MLB’s worst ERA as a team at 5.95. The Angels are 24th with a mark of 4.94. So, it should come as no surprise that both of the first games of this series went well over the total. Will they make it three in a row tonight?

Angels vs. Rangers Prediction and Pick

The Angels added Noah Syndergaard to their roster in the offseason in the hopes that the oft-injured superstar could help with their lack of depth in the rotation. So far, it looks as if Syndergaard hasn’t lost a step despite pitching just two innings in 2021. Thor went 5 ⅓ innings against the Astros without surrendering a run. He scattered two hits, walked two, and struck out one. I’d like to see more K’s from him moving forward, but I have high hopes for his chance to thrive in LA.

Taylor Hearn will make his second start of the year for the Rangers after a questionable first start. While Hearn gave up just one run and struck out six in four innings. He also gave up eight hits in those four innings. It took Hearn 76 pitches to get through those four innings. I think he was very lucky to escape with just one earned run. The Angels' offense will not be as kind if he has a similar outing.

I am willing to believe that Syndergaard’s first start was not a fluke and feel good about his ability to limit any real damage by the Rangers here. The Rangers are also the worst ATS team in the MLB at 2-5. They are tied with a few other teams, but the Angels aren't one of them. The RL odds are very favorable and I’m going to bet that the Angels bats do some damage tonight.

Pick: Angels -1.5 (+130)
