Angels vs. Royals Prediction and Odds for Wednesday, July 27 (Brad Keller Turning Season Around)
By Peter Dewey
The Los Angeles Angels and Kansas City Royals will play their series finale on Wednesday, July 27 at 2:10 p.m. EST.
The Angels have been struggling mightily without Mike Trout, while the Royals have climbed out of last place in the AL Central. Neither team has played well enough to be considered a threat to make the playoffs, which makes Wednesday’s matchup an interesting one to bet on.
Janson Junk (0-0, 0.00 ERA) will make his second appearance of the season and first start for the Angels while the Royals send Brad Keller (5-10, 4.16 ERA) to the mound.
Here are the odds from DraftKings for this matchup:
Angels vs. Royals Odds, Run Line and Total
Run Line:
- Angels +1.5 (-190)
- Royals -1.5 (+160)
Moneyline:
- Angels: +100
- Royals: -120
Total:
- 9 (Over -110/Under -110)
Angels vs. Royals Prediction and Pick
I’m really struggling with the Royals being a favorite in back-to-back games, but it’s warranted with how poorly Los Angeles is playing.
The Angels dead last in runs scored and OPS over the last 30 days and have the second worst ERA in baseball over that stretch. There’s a reason why their season has tanked, and it’s the fact that they just aren’t good.
The Royals have won three of Keller’s four starts this month, and he has turned things around since getting rocked for five runs in 1.2 innings back on June 12. Since then, Keller has a 2.97 ERA in six starts with the Royals going 4-2 in those games.
Junk is a bit of a wild card, but he can’t be much worse than what the Angels have been using in the rotation (outside of Shohei Ohtani of course). The issue comes with the Angels’ bullpen, which ranks in the bottom-10 (along with KC) in ERA.
I think the Royals are the team to back, especially if Junk doesn’t give L.A. length in this matchup.
Lean: Royals ML (-120)
