Angels vs. White Sox Prediction and Odds for Monday, May 2 (Pitching Matchup Favors White Sox)
By Joe Summers
The 8-13 Chicago White Sox host the 15-8 Los Angeles Angels today at 2:10 PM EST in hopes of splitting the four-game series.
Chicago nearly pulled off an incredible comeback in the 9th yesterday, scoring five runs before leaving the bases loaded in a 6-5 loss. They'll send Dylan Cease to the mound today and he's been one of the best pitchers in the American League so far this year. He has a 3.27 ERA with 28 strikeouts over 22 innings.
The Angels will counter with Patrick Sandoval, who has been even more impressive than Cease. He's yet to allow a single earned run in 15 innings over three starts.
Which pitcher has the edge in this one? Can the White Sox bats get to Sandoval or will Los Angeles pull off their third victory of the series?
Here are the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook to help us find some value in this Angels vs White Sox matchup:

Angels vs White Sox Prediction and Pick
Both of these pitchers have been superb this season, but there's a few reasons to favor Cease over Sandoval today.
First, Chicago has been stellar against left-handed pitching. They lead the American League in OPS against lefty's and and while Sandoval has yet to allow a single run, the three teams he's played all rank in the bottom 10 in the MLB in OPS against southpaws (Marlins, Astros, & Guardians). This is without question the most difficult lineup Sandoval has faced, so we're getting a chance to sell high on him.
Second, the Angels bullpen is gassed after the last few days. Both of their top relievers (Ryan Tepera and Raisel Iglesias) have thrown in three of the last four days, so if Sandoval can't go deep then Los Angeles may not have the bullpen depth to keep up.
Third, Cease is simply phenomenal. His pitching profile from Baseball Savant is something out of a video game:
Shohei Ohtani should be out for this game after suffering an injury last night, so the Angels lineup will be lacking firepower against one of the premier pitchers in the game.
The White Sox have won just twice in their last 13 games, but one of those wins was with Cease on the mound. This is a perfect time to sell high on Sandoval and take the short price on an elite pitcher. Chicago has advantages across the board today and I love their chances to come out of the series with a 2-2 split.
Pick: White Sox -1.5 (+152)
