The No. 2 Arizona Wildcats returned to the top of the mountain last night by clinching the Pac-12 Conference in Tommy Lloyd’s first year as head coach. Arizona crushed No. 16 USC 91-71 to secure their first conference title in four years and showed just how dangerous they are by smoking the No. 2 team in the conference. This bodes very well for their chances to run through the Pac-12 Tournament as a warm-up for March Madness. Another reason to like Arizona is that they won the tournament the last time they took the regular-season title back in 2018.

With the regular-season title in hand, let’s take a look at what lies ahead for Arizona in the coming weeks. The Wildcats actually have two more regular-season games to navigate. While they are locked into the top seed in the Pac-12, there is still a chance that No, 7 Kentucky can leapfrog them if Arizona does not win out. Their first test comes tonight against the Stanford Cardinal with their season finale taking place at home against the Cal Golden Bears. While this gives Arizona two games to slip up in, neither Stanford nor Cal are equipped to upset Arizona the way they are playing. Cal is just 3-12 in their last 15 games and already got destroyed by Arizona 96-71. Stanford is in a similar boat with a 3-7 record in their last 10 games and an 85-57 defeat at the hands of Arizona earlier in the year. Based on consensus projections, the Wildcats will play the winner of the round one game between Stanford and Arizona State. The latter of which has lost to Arizona twice in embarrassing fashion already. Usually, the No. 2 seed represents the toughest challenge but Arizona just beat the snot out of them by 20 points less than 24-hours ago.

So, are the Wildcats a good bet to win the Pac-12 Tournament this year? I would have to say yes as there are no other teams that I feel can challenge them in a win-or-go-home situation.
