Ask the Oddsmakers: The Pittsburgh Steelers Aren't Dead Yet
The Pittsburgh Steelers were the final undefeated team in the 2020 NFL season, going 11-0 before losing five of their final six games including losing in the wild card round to the Cleveland Browns.
Now, less than a year later, they enter their Week 7 BYE week with a 3-3 record. Despite a very different start to their season compared to last year, are the Steelers being undervalued and overlooked in 2021?
Heading into Week 7 action, WynnBET has the Steelers’ odds to win Super Bowl 56 set at +7500 (bet $100 to profit $750). At that price, are they a good dark horse bet?
WynnBET’s Senior Trade Grant Tucker thinks they are. BetSided got the chance to ask him which team with favorable odds is the public sleeping on through the first six weeks, and without hesitation, he responded “The Pittsburgh Steelers at +7500.”
Can the Pittsburgh Steelers Make a Run?
The Steelers will come off their bye week to face the Cleveland Browns in Week 8 action, and if you believe in Pittsburgh, now might be the time to bet on the Steelers. If they’re able to get past the Browns with a win, they have the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions next on their schedule which means a 6-3 record through their first nine games is certainly in the conversation.
If you’re a Steelers bettor, the main thing you should be worried about is the effectiveness of their offense. They rank 26th in the NFL in offensive yards per play, averaging only 5.1. They also rank 28th in both yards per pass attempts (6.4) and yards per rush attempt (3.7).
With that being said, the Steelers have enough weapons to start rolling at some point this year. If betting on the NFL is all about selling high on teams and buying low on other teams, Pittsburgh looks like its an ideal buy-low candidate as the Steelers regroup during their bye week.
