For those who enjoy the NFL RedZone Channel for Sunday gameday viewing, around 3:15 pm ET or thereabouts, host Scott Hanson notes a specific window in the early afternoon slate known as, "The Witching Hour."

It's the time of day where Hanson describes, "wins become losses, and losses become wins" as the fourth quarter of action typically gets underway.

With just four games left to go, the NFL regular season is at their equivalent of "The Witching Hour," and oddsmakers are hinting at one team that could make a late season charge into the postseason: the Buffalo Bills.

Buffalo is holding on to the No. 7 seed with a 7-6 record and hold the final playoff spot in the AFC heading into their Week 15 matchup against the Carolina Panthers at home. The Bills are 10.5-point favorites despite losing two straight games, one to the New England Patriots at home, followed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road.

Despite their inconsistent play throughout the year, WynnBET trader Sawyer Johnson believes their best football is yet to come; calling them, "the best team in the AFC."

Buffalo Bills Remaining Schedule and Futures Odds

The Bills have three remaining home games against opponents with records below .500: Carolina, Atlanta, and the New York Jets. Their final remaining road game, however, is at New England who lead the AFC East division by two games.

The good news for Buffalo? The Patriots, despite going undefeated on the road, have struggled in Foxboro, going 3-4-0 this season.

Meanwhile, here's the latest odds for Buffalo over at WynnBET Sportsbook, as well as where they rank amongst other teams:

  • To Win the Super Bowl: +1400 (8th)
  • To Win the AFC: +600 (3rd)

Ultimately, I agree with the oddsmakers regarding the value being the best it will be on Buffalo as they enter a stretch where they'll almost assuredly go 3-1 at a minimum to finish the year at 10-7. However, Buffalo is one of five teams in the AFC that has a 7-6 record, but only the Colts hold the tiebreaker over them. The Colts, Bengals and Broncos all have the same record, but find themselves out of the playoffs if the season were to end this week.

I ultimately like the Bills' AFC odds of +600 more than the Super Bowl odds simply because no team in the AFC has been consistently good all year. Even the Chiefs and Patriots, have had their fare share of struggles throughout 2021.

For what it's worth, our Donnovan Smoot is fading the Bills down the stretch of the season, suggesting that anyone currently holding a Buffalo futures ticket may want to consider hedging elsewhere.
