Ask the Oddsmakers - Who are the Highest Liabilities for Super Bowl MVP?
When you put aside all the entertainment aspects of the Super Bowl like the national anthem, halftime show, commercials, and all of the extra parts of the event and focus on the game itself, there are two major questions.
The first is "who will win?". The second, which almost as hotly debated as the game outcome itself, is "who will be named Super Bowl MVP?".
Odds have been released at WynnBET for who will be named MVP of the big game, but who are people actually betting on?
Who Are the Most Popular Bets to Win Super Bowl 56 MVP?
We asked Jake Meister of WynnBET Sportsbook who the biggest liabilities were in terms of Super Bowl MVP bets, and these are the three names he listed:
- Aaron Donald +1600
- Joe Burrow +210
- Cooper Kupp +600
Why Aaron Donald (+1600) Can Win Super Bowl MVP
Yes, that's right, it's not a quarterback, running back, wide receiver, or any other offensive player that's the biggest liability to win Super Bowl MVP. It's Rams' defensive lineman Aaron Donald.
To be honest, it doesn't surprise me that much. Last week I wrote about why I think the Rams are an easy bet to win the Super Bowl, and a big part of my reasoning was the Rams pass rush against the Bengals offensive line. If the Titans can sack Burrow nine (9) times, so can the Rams.
It's also not completely unheard of for a pass rusher to win the award. Von Miller won Super Bowl MVP in the Broncos Super Bowl 50 win over the Panthers after recording 2.5 sacks. If Aaron Donald can do the same, WynnBET may be coughing up some serious coin to bettors.
Why Joe Burrow (+210) Can Win Super Bowl MVP
This one doesn't warrant much of an explanation. Even Bengals fans will admit that their team might not be as complete as some other teams in the NFL this season, but Joe Burrow has dragged them into the playoffs and willed his way to the Super Bowl. He's been by far the MVP of the team and the MVP of the playoffs, and one can only imagine that if they win the Super Bowl, it's going to be due to his play.
If you think the Bengals will be crowned champions, but you want some extra betting value, wagering on Joe Burrow to win Super Bowl MVP instead of betting on the Bengals moneyline at +165 could be a smart move to make.
Why Cooper Kupp (+600) Can Win Super Bowl MVP
Cooper Kupp won the NFL receiving triple crown this season, recording the most receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns among all receivers in the NFL. He's by far the Rams most dangerous weapon, and he's been going off the entire most season. Over the last two games, he has a combined 20 receptions for 325 yards and three touchdowns.
If he has a third straight performance like that, he has a great shot to win Super Bowl MVP. That's especially true if Matthew Stafford does what Matthew Stafford usually does, and throw a few interceptions along the way.
