Astros vs. Angels Prediction and Odds for Tuesday, July 12 (Fade Luis Garcia)
By Reed Wallach
It hasn't been the prettiest downturn for the Los Angeles Angels in 2022, and now they face the first place Houston Astros on Tuesday.
Los Angeles was just throttled by the Orioles, who are suddenly the hottest team in baseball, and now need to refocus at home against Houston, which come in with some questions on the mound as well as injuries to AL MVP candidate Yordan Alvarez.
Can the Angels pull the upset as slight home underdogs? Let's check out the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook:
Astros vs. Angels Odds, Run Line, Total
Run Line:
- Astros: -1.5 (+125)
- Angels: +1.5 (-150)
Moneyline:
- Astros: -118
- Angels: +108
Total:
- 8 (Over -110/Under -110)
Astros vs. Angels Prediction and Pick
Luis Garcia is starting to trend in the wrong direction. After a hot start to the season, Garcia has come back down to Earth, posting a 4.37 ERA over his last four starts. This is in line with his Fielding Independent Pitching (FIP) of 4.20, which is higher than his season long ERA of 3.89.
Garcia now must navigate the likes of Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani, who return home after a dismal road trip. Since the start of July, the Angels have the worst wRC+ in the big leagues, but will look to pounce on a struggling pitcher.
Los Angeles will also hope to get a strong effort from Noah Syndergaard, who will be facing a battered Astros lineup that will be without Yordan Alvarez, who is hitting the injured list with a hand injury.
It may look like doom and gloom for the Angels, but I like them to catch the Astros here to start the series as small home underdogs.
LEAN: Angels ML (+108)
