It's a battle of a World Series hopeful and a rebuilding bottom dweller on Sunday as the Astros and Athletics wrap up a weekend series in Oakland.

The Astros will hope that rookie Hunter Brown can continue to grow into a quality rotation arm with some promising underlying metrics while the Athletics will hope that Luis Medina can earn a long time spot in the rotation as well for ther rebuilding club.

Here are the odds for Sunday's matchup:

Astros vs. Athletics prediction and pick

Brown may have a 4.26 ERA, but he has been better than his surface level numbers. He is punching out nearly 11 batters per nine innings with an xERA of 3.69. He is trending in the right direction and he is set up well against an Athletics team that is hitting only .229 over the last 10 games.

However, Medina is ripe to perform as well with promising his underlying metrics. He has an ERA of 5.79 , but his xERA is far lower at 4.61. He dishes out too many walks, more than four per nine innings, but the Astros are only hitting at a league average over the last 10 games (14th in OPS).

I expect both pitchers to show up on Sunday in what will shape up to be a low scoring affair in the series finale.
