Astros vs. Braves Prediction and Pick
Game 2 of this 2021 World Series rematch features a new character, Spencer Strider. Strider still doesn’t provide much length as a starter, but has been super effective in the five or six innings that he does pitch.
Strider has a 3.04 ERA, but his 1.98 fielding independent pitching is more indicative of the type of year he is having. He is top 10% of all pitchers in the league in expected ERA, expected slugging, expected batting average, fastball velocity, and top 1% in strikeout rate.
The Braves hit the ball well last night in their 6-2 win. They had 12 hits and four of them went for extra bases.
Austin Riley had eight hits in the World Series a year ago, three of them doubles. He finished the series with three RBI and built on that success last night. With a home run and a single last night, he knocked in three of the six runs.
Michael Harris II is 10-35 with five doubles and two home runs in their last 10 games. Another star rookie for the Braves.
Frankly, it seems like the Braves might have Houston’s number and it isn’t Freddie Freeman or Jorge Soler leading the charge this season, it is the young guns carrying Atlanta.
Pick: Braves -1.5 (+135)
