Astros vs. Red Sox Prediction and Odds for ALCS Game 5
By Peter Dewey
The ALCS is knotted at two games apiece after the Houston Astros scored seven runs in the top of the ninth inning to defeat the Boston Red Sox 9-2 in Game 4.
Houston fell behind 2-1 in the first inning and starter Zack Grienke pitched just 1.1 innings, but the Houston bullpen shut down Boston from there. A Jose Altuve homer in the eighth inning tied the game before the Houston offense really got going against Nathan Eovaldi and Martin Perez in the ninth inning.
Game 5 will take place at 5:08 p.m. EST tonight, and the Red Sox will send ace Chris Sale to the mound against Houston’s Framber Valez.
WynnBET Sportsbook has the Red Sox as a slight favorite in this game, but let’s take a look at all of the odds for this matchup:

Red Sox vs. Astros Prediction and Pick
Both Sale and Valdez were chased after 2.2 innings in Game 1, but the Astros came back to win 5-4 after scoring in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings.
Boston’s offense has gotten off to hot starts in this series, but I trust the Houston bullpen a bit more after last night’s performance. Still, Valdez will need to give the Astros some kind of length, as the bullpen has pitched over six innings in each of the last three games.
That being said, I don’t think Alex Cora’s team loses two straight at home to head back to Houston down 3-2. The Red Sox were able to get to Valdez in Game 1, and they’ve scored a whopping 27 runs in four games so far this series.
I’ll take the Red Sox on the moneyline in this matchup, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this series goes the distance.
