The trade deadline has passed and Shohei Ohtani is still a Los Angeles Angel. After rumors the sputtering franchise would jettison the reigning MVP, the Angels elected to keep their two-way superstar.

Especially with the seemingly disappointing return the Nationals got for Juan Soto, I'd argue keeping Ohtani was the right decision. Now, he'll look to snap a two-game losing streak against the Oakland Athletics tonight.

James Kaprielian takes the mound for Oakland after posting a 1.93 ERA in July. He allowed one or fewer run in four of five starts last month and hopes to stay hot against a Los Angeles lineup that's struggling.

Can Ohtani get back in the win column or will Kaprielian keep his strong streak going?

Let's check out the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook to help find out ahead of this Athletics vs Angels matchup:

Athletics vs Angels Prediction and Pick

Shohei Ohtani gives Los Angeles a huge advantage every time he steps on the mound. He's had one bad start in the last two months, allowing six runs to the Braves a couple of weeks ago, but otherwise has a truly insane 0.69 ERA over his last seven starts.

You can't say enough about Ohtani, who is truly the most absurd talent we've ever seen. Just look at the guy's MLB Statcast Pitching Profile:

Oakland is just 5-11 in its last 16 as road underdogs and I don't see its lineup getting to Ohtani. The Angels are 6-2 over his last eight starts, with all six wins coming by at least three runs.

But James Kaprielian is pitching well too, upping his slider usage to fantastic results. He's allowed three or fewer runs in seven straight starts, helping the Athletics go 6-1 in that stretch.

I see value on the Angels, but I think this will be a low-scoring affair like yesterday's 3-1 victory. The under is 6-2-1 in Ohtani's last nine starts and 12-4-1 in Los Angeles' last 17 as home favorites. Thus, I'll back the under alongside the Angels in a game I think will finish in the neighborhood of 4-1.

Pick: Angels -1.5 (-115) and Under 7.0 (-120)
