The Oakland Athletics have lost seven consecutive games, but they've been in several of them before falling apart late.

Oakland has lost two games by 1 run, including one in extra innings on Wednesday, and two by just two runs.

They'll look to turn their fortunes around against the Houston Astros this afternoon as left-hander Cole Irvin faces right-hander Cristian Javier.

Here are the latest odds over at WynnBET Sportsbook:

Athletics vs. Astros Prediction and Pick

The Astros lead the Majors in Under% this year; with the under hitting in 61.6% of their games. The Athletics, meanwhile, are the third-best under bet in baseball; hitting at a 56.1% clip throughout 2022.

It's almost as if these two teams are perfect for each other to bet on it again.

Cristian Javier has been terrific all season, but despite the Astros' success, he hasn't seemed to gain much run support all year. He's just 6-8 through 100 innings pitched with a 3.14 ERA and an insane 11.84 strikeouts per nine innings.

Meanwhile, Cole Irvin has had a similar-type season for Oakland, but the difference is he's been on a terrible team. Irvin through 20 starts is 6-9 with a sparkling 2.92 ERA. While he's due for regression with a 4.23 expected ERA (xERA), it's still impressive to see these types of numbers while pitching for one of the worst squads in baseball.

In four starts vs. the Astros this year, Irvin has pitched 24.2 innings and only allowed six earned runs. I don't want to get greedy, but while the under is certainly in play, I think a little sprinkle on A's moneyline could also be intriguing.

LEAN: UNDER 7.5 (-110)
