Athletics vs. Royals Prediction and Odds for Sunday, June 26 (Singer Gets Revenge in K.C.)
By Joe Summers
The 24-49 Oakland Athletics snapped a four-game losing streak with a win in Kansas City yesterday, and hope for a similar result this afternoon as they take on the 26-44 Royals at 2:10 PM EST.
James Kaprielian starts for Oakland seeking his first win of the season. He has a 6.05 ERA in June and has really struggled with limiting home runs and walks.
Kansas City turns to Brady Singer, who allowed three runs or fewer in each of his last three starts but is prone to bouts of inconsistency. On the year, he's 3-2 with a 4.34 ERA.
Can Singer give the Royals a series victory at home or will Kaprielian finally get a win in 2022?

Athletics vs Royals Prediction and Pick
The Athletics scored nine runs yesterday, equaling their total from their seven previous games combined. I congratulate them on the successful Saturday, but I don't expect they'll catch lightning in a bottle twice.
Brady Singer has pitched well since returning from the minors and his 3.30 expected FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching) implies he's been unlucky to amass a 4.34 ERA. Oakland is a fantastic matchup for him as their lineup is dreadful against sliders, Singer's best pitch.
On the other end, James Kaprielian still doesn't have a win this season and his 5.28 expected FIP is much worse than Singer's. The A's have lost four straight behind him by a combined score of 33-9, and his MLB Statcast Pitching Profile is ugly:
Kansas City is playing better of late, winning six of their last nine, and should give Singer enough run support for another convincing win today. Oakland may have broke out offensively yesterday, but I'll trust the body of work over the season that indicates they're one of the worst lineups in MLB.
Pick: Royals -1.5 (+125)
