Athletics vs. Yankees Prediction and Odds for Tuesday, June 28 (Oakland is Completely Outmatched Tonight)
By Matt De Saro
Boy oh boy, what a game we have to look forward to here. The New York Yankees, the No. 1 team in the MLB right now, are set to host the Oakland Athletics tonight. Oakland is one of the worst teams in the MLB and entered this series 4-9 in their previous 13 games. The Yankees, on the other hand, entered this tilt 13-4 in their last 17 games overall.
I don’t see a world where the A’s and their terrible offense find a way to keep up here. They rank 30th in batting average, at-bats per game, hits per game, and slugging percentage. The Yankees did suffer through a crazy hitless streak last weekend, but they're still the best offense in MLB.

Athletics vs. Yankees Prediction and Pick
While the Athletics have all the cards stacked against them tonight, there is a spark of hope in the form of Frankie Montas. His record is 3-7, but with a 3.21 ERA and 1.08 WHIP, it’s clear Montas’ poor record is not his fault. It’s gotta be hard to be a good pitcher on a terrible team but Montas continues to play well in spite of this. He hurled eight shutout innings against the Mariners on Thursday while giving up just two hits. But, the Yankees are a better offense than the M’s right now.
Despite hitting “just” .240, the Yankees rank second in the MLB in runs scored and lead the league in home runs. They also lead the MLB in wins by quite a large margin. The A’s, on the flip side, have the worst record in the entire league. A good ole best vs. worst showdown.
The Yankees will start JP Sears in this mismatch. He has been solid for New York in limited action, tossing seven scoreless innings across three outings (one start).
Don’t overthink this game too much and take the Bombers to stay hot against the worst team in the majors.
Pick: New York Yankees -1.5 (+120)
